Oliver Webb

From Racing Driver to Oliver, Oliver Webb…. Ready for a night out

We are extremely proud to introduce David Mason Brand Ambassador and friend Oliver Webb.

Oliver and David Mason are simply a great fit, yes a great fit…from our joint ethos of striving for perfection and success in our own fields through to our love of watches and the passion to be a positive creative influence on the watch world and racing world alike.

What better match than Watches and Racing we say…

Oliver is quoted as saying “I use my instincts to give me an edge over my competitors when I drive. I used the same instincts when I chose to wear a David Mason timepiece”

Instinct, Passion, Talent and Drive are all words that can describe BRDC Superstar driver Oliver from his early days in Karting to his recent exploits in Indy Car Lights in the USA.

A young dynamic gentleman with a goal and vision in life to be the best he can and he is well along the road to his dream of racing in Formula 1 with a return to the British Racing Team Fortec Motorsport to compete in the Renault World Series FR3.5 for the 2013 season.

As an ambassador of David Mason London we will be following Oliver’s carreer closely throughout the season in and out of the car.  His out of season social calendar is full of many charitable fundraisers and car events so our web team will have their hands full.

Who better to have spearheading our new motorsport range to be unveiled later this year. So let’s give you the low down our new ambassador and friend Oliver Webb

  Bio & Racing History

At the age of 9, Oliver started karting by chance he was introduced to it by a friend who had a birthday party at a karting centre    and he had the bug, the adrenaline rush even at this young age and the eagerness to win just moulded Oli’s passion for driving    from this early age.

Oliver progressed to race at Three Sisters in Wigan at the age of 11 under the close eye of Michael Bentwood Management and was engineered by the well respected Steve Ogden. He displayed his talent for karting from the word go, winning his first novice race and going on to win numerous races and claim the Three Sisters Mini max championship in 2003 and 2004.

Oli then entered the T-Cars Championship with Graham Hathaway Engineering, who had previously run a number of successful drivers. The T-Cars Championship allowed youngsters from the age of just 14 years old to drive a purpose-built racing car, learning all the established tracks such as Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Donington. Whilst learning how to change gear,

In 2006 an on fire Oliver Webb in T-Cars went on to win both races at Brands Hatch in his PR motor sport car and achieved an impressive 11 podium finishes with a record seven fastest laps, finishing third in the 2006 T-Cars Championship.

This year also saw Oli at 15 years old undertake Formula BMW testing and also achieving a Formula BMW scholarship, Oli is one of just six young drivers granted the prestigious Formula BMW Scholarship, and was awarded his prize after a gruelling selection day at the Formula BMW Racing Centre in Valencia, overseen by a panel of judges including 1992 Formula One World Champion, Nigel Mansell.

Now 16 years of age Oli entered the world of single seaters with Carlin Motorsport in 2007, along with being Formula BMW Scholarship student of the year and achieving first place. With the single seater bug Oliver moved on to the Winter Formula Renault Series seeing the following results

2008 – Oliver comes 2nd in Spanish Formula Renault winter Championship with Wins and Podiums as well as competing in Formula Renault UK

2009 – Oli came 3rd in a close battle for the title after leading the championship for 2/3rds of the season with 10 podiums and 2 wins and many fastest laps in the UK Formula Renault Championship. So at the ripe old age of  18 Oliver gets awarded Membership of BRDC and awarded a place on BRDC ‘Rising Stars’ which culminated a year later in being named a BRDC superstar and being granted Full membership for life.

Oliver was quickly snapped up by Fortec Motorsport to race in British Formula 3 for the 2010 season  after two seasons with the team racing Formula Renault. In British Formula 3 Oli finished 3rd having lead the championship and got 3 wins, 14 podiums, 4 poles and 4 fastest laps along the way.

Next up was a move to a championship just below Formula 1with Pons Racing and competing in the Worldseries by Renault 3.5 for 2011 and also getting his first taste of the USA by competing in 3 races in firestone Indy lights for Jenson Racing at Edmonton race track, Baltimore street course and the Vegas Oval with Indycar. This experience pushed Oli to join Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the Lucas Oils Sponsored no7 car for the 2012 season in the Indy Lights championship with Oliver Webb finishing a very respectable 7th in his debut season.

But the lure of European racing and the desire to race in Formula 1 has seen Oli return to the UK and drive once again in the 2013 World Series by Renault FR3.5 Championship with his much favoured Fortec Motorsport Team with who he had great success in Formula Renault and Formula 3 a few years ago. It also allows Oliver time to undertake his commitments to another fabulous innovative British Company in BAC Mono as test driver of their single seater road legal super car and Stig's Top Gear Car of the Year...

This partnership with David Mason London highlights Oliver's commitment to British design and our commitment to home grown talent.
