A Little More About Max Coates

Max Coates has been racing Karts since the age of 8, he started driving when he was just 4 years old in a barn.  He then moved outdoor and into the enthralling, action packed sport of Karting. Since starting in Karts he has polished his racing skills and has competed at national, club and regional level.   Max has had success in many Karting championships becoming the Northern Karting Federation in 2007.

However at the age of 16, he made the decision to start racing cars and has raced in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship for the last two seasons.  In his first season he finished just one point outside the top ten in 11th.  With a best finish of 6th in the final round at Brands Hatch Max was keen to better in his second year in the championship.  The winter series at Pembrey brought Max’s first win and being on the podium in all four races earned Max 2nd in the championship.  Max was asked to become a Yorkshire patron in the off season which kick started his second year of the Ginetta Junior Championship. He managed to gain three 3rd place finishes and take 6th in the championship.  A second winter series championship challenge saw Max finish 2nd once more; again this championship went right down to the wire being decided in the final race which Max won.

In 2012 Max graduated into the Ginetta GT Supercup with RedBrick Racing.  He had a very successful start to the year with six podiums including four wins in the first nine races.  He was then forced to sit the fourth meeting of the year out due to budget issues but made a winning return at Croft.  After taking race one Max was one lap away from winning the second but for an mechanical failure.

Max had to sit the remainder of the season out due to further budget issues and returned once more for the final encounter at Brands Hatch GP in the Century Motorsport run ‘the Player International Ginetta G55’.  Max had a best finish of 5th but showed race winning pace.

For 2013 Max has been signed up David Mason London as a brand ambassador, he is planning to race in the Ginetta GT Supercup in the G55 class.
